The Cog­ni­ty: How AI can help train social skills?

Abstract

In this pre­sen­ta­tion, we intro­duce The Cog­ni­ty, an inno­v­a­tive AI-pow­ered plat­form designed to sup­port indi­vid­u­als on the autism spec­trum in the devel­op­ment of social and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills. Com­bin­ing the lat­est advance­ments in arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence with evi­dence-based ther­a­peu­tic prac­tices, The Cog­ni­ty offers inter­ac­tive mod­ules that sim­u­late real-life social sce­nar­ios, pro­vide per­son­al­ized feed­back, and track progress over time. We will explore how AI can enhance tra­di­tion­al social skills train­ing by offer­ing con­sis­tent, scal­able, and engag­ing expe­ri­ences that adapt to the user’s devel­op­men­tal level.

Kate earned her BSc in Com­put­er Sci­ence at the War­saw Uni­ver­si­ty of Tech­nol­o­gy. She then con­tin­ued her jour­ney at the Impe­r­i­al Col­lege Busi­ness School, where she received her MSc in Man­age­ment with a Finance specialisation.

Kate is the CEO of the start-up The Cog­ni­ty. The Cog­ni­ty — AI plat­form for learn­ing social skills, cre­at­ed for indi­vid­u­als on the autism spec­trum and their ther­a­pists. It pro­vides feed­back on words, facial expres­sions, empa­thy and voice, devel­oped with experts from the US, Poland, and Switzerland.

In her career, she worked in multi­na­tion­al con­sult­ing firms, as well as start-ups, where she devel­oped her skills in machine learn­ing, data engi­neer­ing, and Google Cloud Plat­form (GCP). Kate is always up for a chal­lenge, and in her spare time, she man­ages to pub­lish papers in IEEE on mod­el­ling and opti­miz­ing city traf­fic. Addi­tion­al­ly, Kate holds mul­ti­ple cer­ti­fi­ca­tions such as Pro­fes­sion­al Data Engi­neer GCP, Pro­fes­sion­al Cloud Engi­neer and so on. 

She is con­tin­u­ous­ly involved in the plan­ning of var­i­ous edu­ca­tion­al events, hackathons, and sem­i­nars. The Hackathon4Ukraine, First Steps to the Cloud, and the Data Sci­ence Realm — Meet­up are only a few exam­ples. There is more! Fur­ther­more, she is a pre­sen­ter at many inter­na­tion­al and tech­no­log­i­cal con­fer­ences, such as Web­Sum­mit 2023 in Por­tu­gal, ‘Emerg­ing Chal­lenges & Oppor­tu­ni­ties of Advanced Tech­nolo­gies and High Per­for­mance’ at ICIM­MI-2020, and ‘Python for Data Sci­ence’ at the Pow­eR Boot­camp R and Python.
